Krewe of Mid-City Parade Themes

The Krewe of Mid-City’s first parade in 1934 featured two bands, several horseback riders, and six small floats drawn by mules. Since then, the traditional floats flourished in creative themes and design.

Mid-City’s floats traditionally have a unique look with bright tinfoil as a cover and design element. In 1947, Mid-City was the first Krewe to use animation on its floats. In 1955, during a Candy Theme Parade, Mid-City floats were sprayed with candy flavored aromas.

In addition to themes dedicated to children, the Krewe selects a boy and girl from the local Ronald McDonald House to serve as honorary King and Queen each year.
